Activities this Autumn
We also provide a Yoga class which has helped with breathing, flexibility and building strength for many of our residents.
We have a very varied and fun filled activity programme this Autumn.
We have had a great deal of fun sampling new exercise routines to music classes, with the residents choosing Jane Reed’s ‘Move it Don’t lose it’ exercise class to fill our regular Tuesday morning slot. We also provide a Yoga class which has helped with breathing, flexibility and building strength for many of our residents. We often find our residents chatting to family and friends about different routines and offering advice to others on health and wellbeing. At Fairfield we embrace different forms of exercise as it is hugely important for the older generation – exercise helps boost energy, maintain independence and is good for overall wellbeing and health.
The residents and staff at Fairfield love a good sing-a-long, and we were delighted to invite Tristan to Fairfield who sang and played the guitar whilst Kieran played the piano. It was fabulous to hear so many amazing voices, everyone loved the entertainment and had a great time singing together.
Every Wednesday Flossy the PAT dogs visit. PAT stands for Pets as Therapy which is a national charity founded in 1983 by Lesley Scott-Ordish. The charity aims to enhance health and wellbeing in the community through the visits of trusted volunteers with their behaviourally assessed animals. Our residents love their visits and always mention the delight in stroking Flossy the dogs lovely soft fur and taking Flossy for a stroll around the building.
Art is a hugely popular class. A tile collage has been made this month as well as wonderful paintings on silk fans.
As the Winter draws in, we will be providing activities that welcome the festive season with a celebration and joy.
